Hallo everyone
Had therapy in '91-'93 when I had young children, coz that raised a lot of issues around my own childhood. Thought "that was an interesting experience", so took cert and then diploma courses in 2000-2003 once children were older. Been doing voluntary work since then and trying to establish a private practise, but despite pouring hundreds of pounds into advertising, it didn't happen so have got part time office job for now. Will plod on with adverts and try to get private clients this year, but am having break right now (due to bereavement). May not be able to afford to keep trying much longer. Prospect of BACP accreditation recedes ever further into the distance (make sure you get supervision in accordance with requirements, guys...)
Hope to post/read forum from time to time - sounds like you got a nice crowd going!

Hello and :welcome: to the forum

Sorry to hear about the difficulties in getting your practise going - i was going to suggest getting BACP accreditation (cos then they could put your details on their website?) but i then went on to read your struggles in that. I agree with you that counselling is a really interesting experience, both for client and therapist probably.. although i imagine it's not an easy career path to follow - very expensive and time consuming. I hope it goes well for you and some clients in your area are able to find you.

To add an avatar if you go to "User CP" at the top left of the screen, there's an option called 'Edit Avatar' on the left.. there's some ones i've added that you can choose from or you can add your own :) If you have any questions or problems let me know :)

Look forward to seeing you around the forum
