I went to see this film with high expectations and was pleasantly surprised when i wasn't disappointed (as i normally am when a film is hyped up!). I really enjoyed the story line.. the filming.. the scenery.. the actors.. everything! I think it also helps that I have been to India and driven through the Mumbai slums.. and been to the Taj Mahal.. so i had to fight back the urges to keep saying "I've been there!"
Anyway, thoroughly enjoyed it and sooo recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen it yet. Bit squirmish at times but just fantastic

I have never heard of it. Is it released only in the UK?

 It's a British film so I guess it could just be in the UK (and India i believe) at the moment.. i hope it makes it across the pond though as it's just such a fantastic film. :)

definitely with jenny on this - over-hyped films always disappoint me and Slumdog was winning bafta after bafta. But Danny Boyle is one of my fav directors anyway, and this is one of the best he's made. Really enjoyed it, and they brilliantly conveyed the slums (none of that obvious studio stuff that films sometimes resort to!).
And wow, what great acting! superb film....
Saw Benjamin Button yesterday - def. not in the same league - it was an 'ok' film and sort of compared to Forrest Gump (but not as good).

Ahh i'm not really interested in Benjamin Button to be honest.. looks a little silly.
Rented 'Burn After Reading' the other day - i saw it in the cinema and loved it - i recommend that film too.. so random and so funny!

I really want to see this, but am afraid of being let down, but I may give it another thought now.

That's what i was afraid of too Sheep.. but honestly, it's worth a viewing. Especially if you have Orange Wednesdays and can go 2 for the price of 1 :D

Slumdog millionaire was relieased in the US. it doesn't have a lot of hype here. no trailers on TV or anything that i have seen. but it is playing in most major theaters, i had plans to go see it here pretty soon myself. Got GREAT reviews on Rottentomatos.
Another good one coming out soon is gonna be "must read after my death" i think is what its called. its coming out in a few weeks here in the US.

Hi Jess and :welcome: :)
I hope you do get to see it.. it's strange how UK films don't seem to get a lot of hype in the USA but American films are often hyped here in the UK! But maybe once a few people across the pond see it the word will spread :)
Not heard of that 'must read after my death' film but will look out for it :)
