"you're making an impact
on people," you say, as you reach around
(and i say you're my planet), pulling
me into your embrace (as i make dustbowls
of dirt, and craters of air.)
i carry your words in my pocket
as i go about the day. later,
i lie in bed and stare in wonderment
as shooting stars collide (and sparkle
as they fall, into people's lives)
& at the same time, you lie in bed
and trace your finger along a stray
strand of hair, as you try (in vain)
to erase away your mind.
that night, i went out and caught
a falling star (just for you) & i
know god must be watching
because it finally started to rain.
the next day, i walk away & find
a tiny little left over bit of fallen
meteorite, & as soon as i see it,
i know that as much as i
may hope and wish and pray
that you say it, things will never
be 'ok'.
(& he doesn't mention that when
the sun burns out, it takes all life
and leaves darkness in its wake)

i feel sorry for the creative corner... so im putting old stuff in it.
