Hi everyone, I went to my counseling skills session the other day and I thought you might like to hear my experience.

I decided to go because I wanted to see how I had found this wonderful counsellor and how she's always known what I needed... the process really helped. They say counseling training is like no other course you could do and I think that's why even though the course is only 10 weeks they give you 3 weeks before you have to pay for it in case you decide if its not really for you or you aren't ready for it.

Anyway it consisted of talking about Carl rogers, doing open and closed questions and practicing our contracts. I think its hard for me atm to do things like this but there's a need for me personally to see that this journey is real. Awareness is a gift.
I think I plan on going back but I realise i'm not in a good place emotionally so i'll have to be careful not to people please etc.

Any thoughts or personal experiences welcome.

I don't really have any experiences on it 'cause I've never been, but it's something that would certainly be a worthwhile experience. If you want, let us know how it goes? I'm interested.

I've kind of had a taste of it, but its really only vaguely related. For cadet promotions we had to take a mini teaching course that kind of looked at the same type of stuff, like open and closed questions.

Awareness certainly is a gift and it sounds like you have alot of it already. I hope it goes well if you do decide to go back - I'd be interested in hearing how it goes for you.

All i remember from my first session of my counselling skills course is being overwhelmed by the number of people and trying to remember all the names! I was scared I wouldn't be able to do it as i didn't think i could be as good or as nice as the others on the course.. but it turned out fine in the end :)

Take good care of yourself

sounds wonderful!
And perhaps there is a part of you that wishes to make a connection with like minded people?
