The Therapeutic use of the Arts- Taster Weekend (8 participants max.)
Saturday 26th, Sunday 27th Sept 2009 - 9.30am - 4.30pm, Cost £140.00
Training Location: The Link Centre, Headway House, Jackies Lane, Newick, Sussex, BN8 4QX
This programme consists of a two day, introductory workshop in the use of the arts, including clay, paint, sandtray and puppetry throughout the experiential weekend.
It is aimed at both training and qualified practitioners, who may want to develop their understanding and increase their fluency with art media and process, delivered within a person-centred framework.
The workshop will offer;
Individual work engaging with the arts through a series of experiential exercises
Group work, engaging group process through collaborative experiential exercises
Opportunities to engage with image, metaphor and symbol
Process supported by case study examples
This weekend workshop is an ideal opportunity to experience working with the arts personally and as part of a group and is offered as a stand alone CPD course. A more in-depth training, incorporating theory, practice and experiential work with the arts, is planned for the New Year at the Link Centre for those that are interested in taking this further.
This further training aims to support practitioners in developing arts interventions which can be employed in their work with clients and aims to deepen theoretical knowledge and understanding in support of working in this way. It wil also offer further opportunities to engage directly with the arts, incorporating image, metaphor, arts media and process.
Tutor Suki Abbott UKCP reg. Integrative Arts Psychotherapist. Suki is a qualified teacher of art and an experienced trainer, having delivered in a variety of further education settings over the years and currently runs a successful private practice in Benenden, alongside training on courses in humanistic counselling and the application of the arts in therapy.
A certificate will be given on completion of this course
