Bit of a strange one but when I used to see my ex counsellor I noticed that when she let me in the front door, all other doors leading off her hallway were closed EXCEPT the door to the therapy room. It was always slightly open..

But with another therapist i noticed that when she let me in the door to the therapy room is always closed. I have to open it myself (although the first week i didn't, i just let her guide me as i didn't know which room it was going to be in).

But i wonder really whether anyone else has noticed this about the therapy door being opened/closed.. how do you feel about it either way?

To me i think i preferred the open door policy.. it felt more welcoming :)

I can see why it would feel more welcoming and accepting. I think a therapist I saw for about 6 weeks also did that.

My current therapist works in a hospital and the therapy rooms are in a corridor together, and all the rooms are closed. I always let me therapist lead the way even though she sometimes wants me to go first. I just feel uncomfortable. How awful to accidently walk in on someone !!!!!!

Never noticed it before, but interesting topic :)

In my therapist's office, there is a long hallway with smaller offices on each side. All the doors in the unoccupied offices are open, and the ones with clients in them are closed, obviously (wonder if there's a therapist out there that leaves the door open during the session?!) I'm never in the same room each week, so she'll have to guide me to the room she's using that day.
