Well, as someone who works for the NHS this has really annoyed me! I have taken 1 day off in the past year and the team i work in rarely has people off sick, except maybe 1 person who is a regular but you get those everywhere!

They're saying on the news it could be because NHS workers smoke, are obese, don't exercise etc. HA talking about generalisations! I mean, i don't smoke!!

But seriously, some people who were interviewed on the news have pointed out that an NHS job isn't the same as a private sector job.. people have more contact with patients who are ill, etc. They do shifts around the clock. The stress levels and pressures upon them are high (not saying people in private sector don't have this as I know they do - i used to work in a private company). How come we're now blaming everything on obesity?!

The good news is though that they're talking now of looking after NHS staff more.. sounds good to me especially if they introduce counselling services! :)
