For the past couple days, my internet has been running extremely slow. I didn't know whether it was my ISP or my old computer that was causing the problem, but I did two things to try to solve it: first, I cleared out all the applications that I rarely use, and second, I switched my browser from Internet Explorer to Firefox. Once I switched browsers, my internet started to work much better. So, has anyone else ever had this problem? Which browser do you prefer?

:grouphug:

Edit, 5 hours later: ARRRGHHH!!...this is how I feel right now:

:throw::dead: My internet is on the fritz again, even Firefox is slow. I so want to hurl my laptop out the window. Telling myself "ok...cool it Megan...calm down and don't hurt the computer..." Urgh, has anyone found a way to deal with internet problems like this? My dad is going to call the ISP tomorrow, hopefully that helps.

There could be a couple of things going on...you could have a lot of spy/adware on your computer which can slow things down a program I've used to take care of that is "Spybot search & destroy" it's free though they ask for a donation and works very well. Another possibility is you have a lot of junk in your temp. file folder. I can't guide you in firefox's clean-up, but in IE you go into "tools-internet options" under browings options..."delete" check "temporary Internet Files" Then press "Delete". Hope that helps. Is it just your internet that's slow? Are you using dial-up, dsl, or cable?

Good luck

I prefer firefox, it runs much smoother than IE in my opinion! Never had a problem with it so far *touch wood* :D

firefox any day. the 'hold-my-hand-omg-dont-download-anything' approach that IE takes drives me up the wall. and it is SLOW.

how's your internet been treating you lately?? better? i hope it is.
