So everytime the sessions ends, when I walk out of the room (which I find quite awkward in itself), I say "thank you". And I wonder (to myself) what I'm thanking her for. With my ex therapist I never said thank you.. paying her was thanking her.. but i guess this time it's slightly different as it's an awkward exit, like she doesn't say anything.. she just says "we need to finish there" and she sits there, waiting for me to get up and leave.

Hmm maybe i need to speak to her about it huh!!

But, yes, do you say thank you to your therapist?? Do you think it's courtesy to say thanks.. or is it rude not to say thanks? Or is a thanks necessary??

I guess when i get my hair cut (which i also pay for) i still thank the hairdresser at the end when i walk out.. but somehow thanking my therapist seems odd. Maybe i don't want to be grateful to her for anything.. ahhhhhhhhh!! :shy:

My therapist escorts me and my parents out, and I usually find myself listening to them talk as we walk out the door. I"ll say a casual "thanks", but that's about it. I can see how thanking a therapist is different than thanking a hairdresser...hmm...something to think about huh!

I guess I say thanks once in a while, but usually it's see ya next week...or she'll say take care and I'll say you too. Never really thought about it that much before.

Come think of it, no... I don't. I might say 'see you' or something like that though.

I always try to say thank you because in the past I was very ungrateful to people who tried to help me so now I'm over thankful for everything.

I haven't seen a counsellor in quite some time.. but yes, I always did say thank you - I'd feel unappreciative if I didnt, as if the session didn't help. She always thanked me too so it went both ways :)
